Answer · Housecall Pro Tracking

Can you track Housecall Pro bookings in Google Analytics?

It depends on your setup. If your site is Housecall Pro's Websites add-on, HCP says your builder sets up a Google Analytics account that reports site traffic, but that article doesn't mention bookings. If you embed or link HCP Online Booking on your own site, HCP's Online Booking overview doesn't document GA4 inside the booking flow. The booking redirect, booking-link tracking attributes and Lead Source field still get you most of the way there.

If you only read this

  • On HCP's Websites add-on, your builder sets up a Google Analytics account for site traffic. HCP's Online Booking overview doesn't document GA4, Google Tag Manager, Google Ads or Meta Pixel support inside the booking flow, or UTM and gclid capture.
  • It does let you redirect customers to an https page on your own domain right after they book. That page is where the booking conversion gets counted.
  • Inside HCP, booking source lives in the Lead Source field and in tracking attributes you add to booking links.
  • Track the "Book online" click as intent, the /thank-you page as the booking, and phone calls as the heaviest signal.
  • Completed jobs can go back to Google Ads as offline conversions through webhooks on the MAX plan, or through Zapier.

What does Housecall Pro's help center say, and what does it leave out?

Housecall Pro's Online Booking gives you two ways onto your website. The first is embed code: HCP says the code "will place a 'Book online' button on your website", and the button opens the booking flow in a pop-up window on your page. The second is a copyable link to the same booking flow, hosted on Housecall Pro's own address. Both end with a booked cleaning in your HCP schedule.

The useful part for tracking is the booking redirect. In HCP's words, "once the customer books successfully, the booking flow will immediately redirect them to that link." The link must use https, and its domain has to match the company website in your Housecall Pro profile settings. So you can send every booked customer to a page you control, such as yourcompany.com/thank-you.

What the Online Booking overview doesn't document is just as important:

  • There's no documented support for GA4, Google Tag Manager, Google Ads conversion tags or the Meta Pixel inside the Online Booking window.
  • There's no documented capture or pass-through of UTM parameters, gclid or fbclid.
  • There's no detail on whether the embed is an iframe or a script, or whether the redirect fires inside the pop-up or the full browser window.

What if your site is Housecall Pro's Websites add-on?

If Housecall Pro built your website through its Websites add-on, Google Analytics comes with it. HCP's help article says, "Your builder will also set up a Google Analytics account for you," and you're added to that account as an admin.

The article lists four kinds of reporting: traffic sources, visitor location and device type, the pages people land on and use most, and bounce rates. That is site-level traffic. The article doesn't mention online booking, booking pages or booking conversions, so it doesn't tell you whether a booked cleaning shows up in that account.

The article also doesn't say whether you can add your own Google Ads or Meta tags to an add-on site, so confirm that with Housecall Pro before you plan around it. The booking side works the same way it does on your own site. You still tag booking links, point the redirect at a thank-you page and keep Lead Source entries clean.

Where can you see booking source?

Housecall Pro does track source, but only inside HCP, not in Google Analytics. Five places matter:

WhereWhat it doesLimits
Lead Source fieldIt tags customers, jobs and estimates with where they came from. Built-in sources include "My Website (Online Booking)", Google Reserve, Yelp and Thumbtack.HCP adds it automatically "in some scenarios"; otherwise your office sets it.
Tracking attributes on booking linksAdd them to a booking link and the resulting job or estimate gets tagged. These are HCP tags, not GA4 sessions or UTMs.
Lead source reportsHCP reports job lead source, customer lead source, and estimate conversion by lead source. The reports are only as good as the data entry behind them.
Marketing Dashboard ROI TableIt shows one row per lead source and calculates ROI and ROAS on revenue from completed jobs.Ad spend is entered manually or by bulk import. There's no ad-account connection.
Call tracking numbersCall tracking is a paid add-on. Each tracking number is tied to a lead source, such as one for your Google Business Profile and one for Yelp.Dynamic number swapping for website visitors isn't documented; that takes a tool like CallRail.

Put together, HCP can tell you that a booked job came from "My Website (Online Booking)" or from a tagged link. It can't tell you, on its own, which Google Ads campaign or which keyword sent that visitor to your site. That's the gap GA4 and your ad platforms fill.

What should you track instead?

This is the setup we use for carpet cleaners on Housecall Pro. Each piece covers a gap the others leave.

  1. Tag every booking link by channel. Your website, Google Business Profile, Facebook page, email campaigns and text reminders each get their own booking link with an HCP tracking attribute. Links that point at your own pages get UTM parameters too. Don't assume HCP reads the UTMs. The attribute is what tags the job.
  2. Fire a GA4 event on the "Book online" click. Name it something like book_online_click and count it as intent, because that's what it is. Plenty of people open the booking window, look at the times and close it.
  3. Count the /thank-you page as the booked cleaning. Point HCP's post-booking redirect at an on-domain thank-you page and fire your GA4, Google Ads and Meta conversions from that page view. This is our approach, not a documented HCP feature, and it depends on the redirect loading in the full browser window where your tags live. It will be tested on your install before we trust a single number from it.
  4. Weight phone calls heavier. Carpet cleaning still books by phone. A call from an ad or your Business Profile is closer to a job than a click on a booking button, so we value it more in reporting and in ad bidding.
  5. Hold the office to lead source discipline. Whoever answers the phone sets the Lead Source on every new customer and job. Enter monthly ad spend in the ROI Table. If you skip either one, HCP's reports are guesses.
  6. On MAX, send completed jobs back to Google Ads. HCP's webhooks are MAX-plan only. With webhooks, or with Zapier, you can report booked or completed jobs to Google Ads as offline conversions, so Google optimizes for cleanings, not clicks.

Read these together, not separately. GA4 tells you which channels drive booking clicks and thank-you page views. HCP tells you which tagged sources turned into completed jobs and revenue. When the two roughly agree, you can trust the picture. When they don't, the redirect or the office's lead source entries are usually the first thing to check.

Our own website forms capture full attribution

Not every customer wants to pick a time slot. Some want a quote for a sectional, a pet urine problem or a commercial floor. Those go through a form on your own site. That form is fully under our control, so attribution is complete.

Every site we build on the CarpetCleaningSEO platform sets a first-party attribution cookie that lasts 90 days. On a visitor's first arrival it records:

  • Ad click IDs: gclid, gbraid and wbraid from Google, and fbclid from Meta.
  • Campaign tags: utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_term and utm_content.
  • The first referrer, which is the site that sent them.
  • The first landing page, which is where they entered your site.

When that visitor submits a form, even weeks later, those values are written into hidden form fields and arrive with the request. You see the name, phone and job details plus the campaign that started it. The same click IDs let us send closed jobs back to Google Ads and Meta.

That's why we keep both doors open: Housecall Pro Online Booking for customers ready to book, and our own forms for everyone who needs a conversation first. More on how the site is built in our carpet cleaning website guide, and on how it all fits with HCP on our Housecall Pro marketing page.

FAQ

Here are the questions carpet cleaners ask about this.

Does Housecall Pro integrate with Google Analytics?
It depends on your setup. On HCP's Websites add-on, your builder sets up a Google Analytics account for site-level traffic. For Online Booking on your own site, HCP's Online Booking overview doesn't document GA4, Tag Manager, Google Ads or Meta Pixel support inside the booking window.
Does Housecall Pro's website add-on include Google Analytics?
Yes, according to Housecall Pro's help center. It says your builder will set up a Google Analytics account for you and add you to it as an admin. The article describes reports on traffic sources, visitor location and device, popular pages and bounce rates. It doesn't mention online booking or booking conversions.
Can Housecall Pro send customers to a thank-you page after they book?
Yes. The booking redirect sends customers to a link you choose immediately after a successful booking. It must be https and on the domain in your HCP profile. We count that page view as the booking conversion, but only after testing that the redirect loads it.
Do UTM parameters work on Housecall Pro booking links?
HCP's help center doesn't say they're captured or passed through. Use HCP's own tracking attributes on booking links to tag jobs by channel, and use UTMs on links to your own pages, where GA4 reads them.
What should count as a conversion?
There are three tiers. A "Book online" click is intent; a thank-you page view after the redirect is a booked cleaning; and a form submission with its source attached or a phone call from an ad is a real conversation. We weight calls heaviest.
Can Housecall Pro jobs go back to Google Ads as conversions?
Yes. On the MAX plan you can use webhooks, and Zapier publishes a template for sending scheduled jobs to Google Ads as offline conversions. HCP's Zapier article lists the integration on its Essentials, Essentials+ and MAX plans. Without gclid capture, the match runs on hashed email and phone.
