If you only read this
- Most visitors arrive on a phone, ready to call. Put a tap-to-call number and a booking button at the top of every page.
- Show prices or honest ranges with your minimum. Bait pricing gets clicks and costs reviews.
- Housecall Pro's Online Booking puts a "Book online" button on your site and can send customers to a thank-you page on your domain afterward.
- One page per service, with real before-and-after photos from your own jobs, beats a single "Services" page with stock images.
- Fix before you rebuild. Rebuild when the platform stops you from editing pages, adding services or staying fast.
What does a carpet cleaning website need to convert?
Someone looking at your site usually has one of three questions: can you fix my problem, what will it cost, and when can you come. A site that answers those in the first screen books jobs. One that opens with a slideshow and a mission statement doesn't.
| Element | Why it matters | Common miss |
|---|---|---|
| Tap-to-call number, top of every page | Most carpet cleaning is booked by phone | Number buried in the footer or shown as an image |
| Book online button | It catches after-hours and phone-shy customers. | A contact form that promises a call back "within 24 hours" |
| Prices or honest ranges | It answers the first question before the call. | "Call for a quote" on everything |
| One page per service | It matches what people search and what they need to hear. | One "Services" page with a bullet list |
| Real before-and-after photos | They prove you do the work in their kind of home. | Stock photos of models on white carpet |
| Reviews on the page | They build trust before a stranger enters the house. | A link to Google and nothing else |
| Service area spelled out | It tells people in outlying towns you'll come. | Only the city name in the footer |
| Method explained in plain words | Customers want to know about drying time, chemicals, kids and pets. | Jargon or nothing at all |
Put the phone number and booking button in a header that stays visible as people scroll on a phone. Repeat them after every major section and at the bottom of every service page. If someone has to scroll back to the top to call you, some of them won't. Do the same for hours. If you answer until 7pm or take Saturday jobs, say so near the number.
Explain your method once, clearly. Truck-mount hot water extraction, portable extraction and low-moisture encapsulation or VLM all have trade-offs in drying time and how they handle heavy soil and pet contamination. Say which you use, why, and what the customer should expect afterward. Mention IICRC certification if you have it.
Transparent pricing on your website beats bait pricing
The trade has a reputation problem with "$X per room" ads that turn into a much bigger bill once the tech is standing in the living room. Homeowners know it. Many will skip any site that hides prices, and the ones who book on a bait price often leave a review about the upsell.
You don't need to publish a full price sheet. You do need to give people enough to decide whether to call:
- Show starting prices or ranges by room, area or square footage, depending on how you price.
- State your minimum charge plainly.
- Say what's included (pre-vacuum, pre-spray, spot treatment, furniture moving) and what costs extra (pet enzyme treatment, protector, stairs, heavy furniture).
- Explain what changes the price, such as heavy soil, pet urine, room size and trip distance.

Take online bookings with Housecall Pro
If you run Housecall Pro, its Online Booking feature is the simplest way to take bookings on your site. According to Housecall Pro's help center:
- It provides embed code that places a "Book online" button on your site, which opens a booking window. You also get a copyable link to a hosted booking page.
- After someone books, it can redirect them immediately to a link you set. That link must be https and on your company domain. Use it for a thank-you page.
- Booking links can carry tracking attributes that tag the resulting job in Housecall Pro.
- Jobs booked this way can carry the built-in "My Website (Online Booking)" lead source.
- Reserve with Google is free for all Pros, so people can book from your Google Business Profile too.
Jobber, ServiceTitan and Workiz have their own booking tools; the principles are the same. Put the button everywhere the phone number is, and make sure you can measure it. See Housecall Pro marketing.
Get your service pages, photos and speed right
Service pages
Give each service its own page: carpet cleaning, pet urine and odor, upholstery, tile and grout, area rugs, and commercial or water damage if you do them. Each page should say what the problem looks like, how you handle it, what it costs or what changes the price, how long it takes to dry, and how to book. A pet urine page should explain UV detection, enzyme treatment and when pad or subfloor replacement is the honest answer. An upholstery page should explain fabric codes W, S, WS and X. A rug page should say whether you clean in-plant or on location.
Separate pages also let your ads land somewhere useful. Someone who clicked an ad for couch cleaning should land on the upholstery page, not the home page. And they give Google and AI assistants a clear, single place to learn that you do each service. If you serve several towns, add a small number of real service-area pages on top; see carpet cleaning SEO for how to do those without copy-paste.
Photos
Use real photos from your own jobs every time. Show your truck, your techs in uniform, and before-and-afters shot from the same angle in the same light. Customers can spot stock photos, and so can Google. Have techs take a before and after on every job with an obvious result, and save the best.
Speed
Most visitors are on a phone, often on cellular data. Compress images before uploading, avoid auto-playing video and heavy sliders, and remove plugins and chat widgets you don't use. If the page takes more than a few seconds to show the phone number, you're losing calls.
Show the trust signals that close the call
You're asking a stranger to let your crew into their home, around their kids and pets, with equipment and chemicals. People look for reasons to trust you before they pick up the phone. Give them the real ones:
- Who you are. Add an owner photo and a short story about how long you've been cleaning, why you started and who runs the trucks. Customers book people, not logos.
- Credentials that mean something. List IICRC certification, insurance and a business license where your state requires one. Say what they are, don't just paste badges.
- Show real reviews, with first names and towns, pulled from Google with the customer's words intact.
- What happens on the day. Explain the arrival window, how long the job takes, whether you move furniture, and how long before people can walk on the carpet.
- Offer a guarantee you'll honor, such as coming back to re-treat a spot that reappears. State the terms plainly.
- Give safety answers for kids and pets, including what you use and how long to keep them off damp carpet.
If you're woman-owned, veteran-owned or family-run, say so. It's a real reason some customers choose a local company over a franchise. B&G Carpet Cleaning, our own family's company, puts its woman-owned status and its owner front and center. You can read more about how to present yourself in carpet cleaning branding.
These are the fixes we make most often
- Phone number not tappable or hidden in the footer on mobile.
- No booking option, or a booking form that emails someone who checks it on Fridays.
- One page for every service, so pet urine searches land on a generic page.
- Stock photos instead of real job photos.
- Title tags that say "Home" instead of what you do and where.
- Different phone numbers on the site, Google Business Profile and directories, with no plan for call tracking.
- Huge image files making pages slow on phones.
- No tracking of calls, booking clicks or thank-you pages.
- Out-of-date content: old prices, discontinued services, a team page with people who left years ago.
Should you rebuild or fix, and should you use a template builder or go custom?
Before deciding, look at the numbers you already have. In Google Search Console, which pages get impressions? In GA4 or your call tracking, which pages lead to calls and bookings? A site that already ranks for a few service terms has value worth protecting, and any rebuild should keep those URLs or redirect them carefully. Rebuilds that throw away working pages are one of the quickest ways to lose rankings you spent years earning.
Fix what you have when the site is reasonably fast, you can edit titles and add pages, and the main problems are content and conversion. Most of the list above can be fixed without starting over.
Rebuild when the platform blocks you: you can't add service pages, can't edit title tags, can't add schema, it's slow no matter what, or you don't control the domain or the account. If a previous vendor owns your site or domain, getting control back is the first job.
| Option | Good for | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|
| DIY template builders | A brand-new one-truck company that needs something live this week | Limited SEO control, slow pages, generic designs |
| Industry website vendors | Quick setup with trade-specific templates | Contracts where you don't own the site or domain; duplicate content shared with other clients |
| Custom or managed platform | Companies that want SEO, speed and conversion tracking done properly | Cost and who controls edits after launch |
Whatever you choose, make sure you own the domain, the site and the analytics accounts. Our websites are built on the CarpetCleaningSEO platform, with migration from your old site included. Foundation moves your current site onto it, and Growth includes a new custom build. You own it from day one.
